Hey you! So glad to have you here. I’m Alyssa.

I think my love of food goes back to my grandmother. Forget that; my love of SWEETS goes back to my grandmother. She made whoopie pies the size of your head. And always told me I could have another dessert. And always had at least 5 different types of cookies or bars waiting for us in the freezer.

Plus, my mom puts frosting on her english muffins. And so…my sweet tooth appears to be a genetic issue.

I do eat “real” food, too. I live for summer Saturdays at the farmer’s market, even if the traffic on the Madison Capital Square is worse than rush hour. I’ll do whatever’s necessary to get those fresh, local goods. Watch out, strollers. Only kidding. Sort of.

Although my KitchenAid has become one of my dearest friends, I do have a life outside the kitchen. We recently purchased our first home and we still haven’t completed the settling-in process. Will we ever? We love to make and build stuff, and I’ll share things here that I think you’ll love too!

  //handmade

My mom has instilled in me the importance of appreciating local artists and all things handmade. Won’t you join me in supporting your community and the time real people, not a factory in China, put into their work? I’m a total Etsy junky, so please check out my Handmade Monday posts or my Etsy favorites to see what the world is making for you!

I reside in the great Madison, Wisconsin (brr) with my husband, Kyle, and our two mischievous dogs, Oscar and Penny. By day, I’m an aspiring horticulturist. By night, I stuff my face with great food. We eat at home most nights but we also love the food in this wonderful city so we eat out more than I’d like to admit.

My family is totally goofy and I don’t think we have a single normal photo together. But I kinda like it that way.
